DESCRIPTION
As an intern at the American Diabetes Association, you will obtain hands-on public health and non-profit marketing experience and gain exposure to areas such as: media relations, press material development, social media strategy, working with volunteers and special event marketing assistance. When you join us, you can expect challenging work assignments in a professional, friendly business casual atmosphere.
This position will introduce you to non-profit marketing and communication for exciting, high-profile events and programs. This position is available now through Summer Semester 2012 & beyond. This is an unpaid internship but can work towards credits, resume builder and experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Obtaining a degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, Health Promotions or other related area of study
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Good written and verbal communication skills
Time commitment of 10-20 hours per week (work shift negotiable between 9-5)
Ability to multi-task in fast-paced and time sensitive work environment
Experience with social media outlets
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and website management a plus
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and with ADA staff
INTERNSHIP RESPONSBILITIES
Assist with media relations, including writing and distributing press releases and tracking media campaigns
Assist with creative development of promotional materials for various ADA events
Assist in promoting ADA to vendors, sponsors and community outlets
Assist in data input and reports
Assist in social media strategy for overall organization and specific fundraising events
Provide support for online marketing efforts utilizing multiple channels
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Observe and participate in all of the ADA’s programs and events.
Demonstrate knowledge of ADA’s computer system and other office equipment.
Represent the American Diabetes Association at community health fairs and events.
