Student Board of Directors Program - Denver Branch
Applications Due September 25, 2017


Invite your students to be part of the Student Board of Directors Program at the Denver Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The Student Board of Directors program gives Denver juniors and seniors an opportunity to increase their understanding of business topics while gaining experience in a professional environment. Learn more about the program at SBODdenver.kcfed.org.

Students will have the opportunity to:
  • Foster a broad understanding of the role of the Federal Reserve and its importance in daily life
  • Develop financial responsibility and money management skills
  • Gain exposure to a wide variety of career opportunities and professional interactions 
  • Enhance leadership and life skills
  • Promote networking and connections among peers that build teamwork, respect and trust
Students interested in the 2017-2018 program should submit their applications and all required documents by September 25, 2017.
Applicants must be in the top 30 percent of their class prior to and for the duration of the program and attend high school in Denver Public Schools.

Center for Visual Art - Young Artist's Studio opens Aug. 29th - Free workshops for ages 11-21

The Young Artist Studio opens on August 29th!
Free hands-on workshops for youth ages 11-21 

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30-5:30 pm

An inclusive and diverse community, we welcome youth from throughout the metro area who are interested in learning a variety of media and exploring contemporary themes through art. In the Studio we practice the skills and self-efficacy of creative leaders and encourage each other to make great original work. Exhibitions at the CVA inspire the themes, media and cultures explored in the workshops. 

This year's workshops are listed below. Participants may drop-in or register on-line.

August 29 - October 19  Watercolor Painting
Explore the social and environmental justice themes of the Water Line exhibition and learn new watercolor painting techniques.

October 24 - December 12  Soft Sculpture
Check out the inspiring culminating exhibition of MSU Denver graduating BFA students and dive into a 3-D space where only your imagination limits your construction.
  
January 9 - March 22  Mural Painting
The walls in our city offer a platform for social critique and cultural identity. Carlos Fresquez has made his mark on the walls of Denver for more than 30 years. Learn techniques and strategies used by successful muralists to create a mural in the studio at the CVA.

April 3 - May 17   2nd Annual YAS Printmaking Exchange

Discover a variety of printmaking techniques including block printing, collograph, monotype, transfer and more. Make a series of prints to share and take home a diverse portfolio of prints by other young artists.

Center for Visual Art - Exhibitions, Tours and Events

Exhibitions, Tours and Events
Visit the CVA to see spectacular exhibitions during First and Third Friday art walks, public events and programs for youth and families. Immersive tours and hands-on workshops for students, educators, families and community groups encourage curiosity, playfulness and creativity. Please register to bring a community group or class to visit our gallery.
  • We begin this fall with Water Line, an exhibition focused on the loaded issues of water to promote stewardship, advocacy and activism. Artists address the Colorado River basin, the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, pollution in our oceans and rivers, rising sea levels, the Antarctic Ice Sheet, and more! (Aug 4 - Oct 21)
  • In November and again in April we welcome MSU Denver's culminating BFA student exhibitions. The work is fresh and exciting and not to be missed!  

  • In early 2018 we are proud to host an exhibition of the work of Carlos Fresquez, a celebrated Denver, Chicano artist and professor at MSU Denver. CVA will be draped with murals as well as smaller pieces from throughout his career. (Jan 12 - Mar 24)
