Free After-school Art Studio for youth 11-21. September 6, 2016- May 25, 2017

Please encourage young artists to join our after-school studio. An inclusive and diverse community, our Young Artists come from throughout the metro area to explore contemporary art in the Art District on Santa Fe. In the Studio at the CVA, Young Artists begin to recognize the role of contemporary art in global dialog and develop the capacity to become creative leaders in our communities. The youngest artists gain exposure to a variety of techniques and methods while our senior artists develop a portfolio. 

I would be thrilled to speak with your community about this program. Please be in touch if you would like posters or postcards to share or if you would like me to come in to speak with a group of parents, colleagues or young artists.

The SBOD program is a program during the 2016-2017 school year that will prepare students to become knowledgeable citizens by increasing their understanding of economic, financial and occupational topics through collaboration with peers and business leaders.

The goal of the program is to:

·        Foster a broad understanding of the role of the Federal Reserve and its importance in daily life

·        Develop financial responsibility and money management skills

·        Promote networking and connections among peers that build teamwork, respect and trust

What is the application process?

Wood Shop Apprentice

Position: Wood Shop Apprentice
Reports to: Wood Shop Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Part Time (32 hrs/ week)
Compensation: Starts at $9.00 per hour

Position Overview: The Mile High WorkShop, a transitional job-training program, operates a warehouse with sewing, woodworking, laser etching and fulfillment shops. The Wood Shop Apprentice will learn skills related to commercial woodworking. Examples of skills learned include operating a table saw and drill press, assembling various styles of furniture and consumer goods, sanding, staining and finishing/ quality control.

There is also an opportunity to cross-train in other departments as interest or demand dictate. The position is designed to be a transitional learning experience lasting approximately nine months.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Building furniture and other consumer goods out of wood
o Must feel comfortable using hand tools / power tools
o Competent at following instructions
o Cut, shape, join, sand and finish wood components
o Maintain integrity of the build by ensuring wood isn’t warped, cracked, or unusable
 Safely operate a variety of power tools including miter saw, table saw, drills, routers, sanders, lathe, drill press and others
 Maintain workshop supplies
o Wood, tool upkeep, supply refills, stains, safety gear, etc.
 Employee will help maintain a safe environment
o Goggles, masks, gloves, hearing protection, etc.
 Measure twice, cut once
 Other duties as assigned
