Emotional Life of the Female Brain - Workshop

Emotional Life of the Female Brain
Have your ever heard this? “Women are too emotional or why are you crying?” As a woman, I know I have. I have been in a movie, tears running down my face and my husband just shakes his head or I have been in a meeting and on the verge of tears, trying to hold them back so I don’t appear to be “weepy” or “emotional”, when really, I just want to scream. Funny thing, as humans we are all emotional. Yep even the guys!
Have you ever thought, I wish I could understand why this “insert situation” causes me to feel “insert one of the thousands emotions”? Do you want to know why you react the way that you do to things and people? Do you want to know why one friend totally gets your tears, while another is unmoved by the same thing? Do you want to know why certain people impact our emotions so strongly? Do you want to know why sometimes there is nothing better than ice cream with the girls? Do you want to gain insight and perspective on all things emotional?
Join SPHERE Education and Brain Coach Jenn Green for the Emotional Life of the Female Brain. This 6 week live, interactive, online workshop will have you laughing, crying, frustrated, but it will leave you with a whole new insight to the emotional life of your brain. We will explore the following topics:
The Biology and Neurology of Emotions - Emotions aren’t all psychology, and you can’t control your feelings; you can however control your reaction. In Week One we will look at the brain and biological process of emotions. We will explore the differences between men’s and women's brains when it come to emotion. We will understand the physical process of each emotion. How long emotions last in the body? What impact different emotions have on us physically?
The Emotional Blueprint - We weren’t born knowing how to feel about things, we learned it somewhere. Week Two we will discover our emotional blueprints and how and why we feel certain emotions. We will uncover why certain events impact us in such profound ways. We will examine who contributed to our emotional process and reactions, you might be surprised as you learn who impacts us and how.
Emotional Awareness - “I have no idea how I feel!” Week Three will discuss the different kinds of emotions. Are emotions good or bad? Why we judge certain emotions, both in ourselves and others? Why is it so hard sometimes to pinpoint how we feel? We will begin our development of personal emotional awareness and acceptance.
Emotional Responsibility -  “You make me feel…” Week Four we will take a hard look at who is responsible for how we feel. Why we are so willing to assign responsibility for certain feelings to someone else, and quick to reject someone blaming their emotional state on us. We will then explore why and how we sometimes feel responsible for someone else’s emotions and what that can do to our mental health.
Emotional Ownership - Sometimes we just need to be sad. Week Five we will dive into the concept of “sitting in an emotion.” How do you allow yourself to really feel and process emotions? Can you work through sadness or can you just “get over” something? We will learn a process for fully feeling our emotions, how to come to terms with the feelings around a certain situation, and how to let things go. We will also learn our reactions are our responsibility, and how to model that lesson to our family, friends, children, and coworkers.
Our Tribe and Emotional Support - We all know who to turn to when we feel a certain way. Week Six we will explore the complex system of friends, romantic partners, acquaintances, strangers, and family. We will learn how to recognize which members of our tribe support us in different times and which ones make us crazy. We will discuss how to build a tribe that encourages your authentic self and supports your emotional and mental well being.

“Life is messy, if you really want to live you’re going to have to get your hands dirty… Go ahead and dig in; get paint on your fingers and dust on your shoes, let your face get wet when you need to, because loving means you will hurt. Don’t be afraid to say the wrong thing because you will eventually, we’re all practicing. Just jump right in there and do your best to love it all, make the best mess you can.” ~ Renee Yohe
