JOIN THE MAKING COLORADO YOUTH AMBASSADOR TEAM-Statewide Internship for High School Seniors

Making Colorado is looking for the next generation of social media marketers that can capture the spirit and pride of their hometown Colorado county. Through this unique program, one high school junior from all 64 counties in Colorado will have the opportunity to impact the future of the state.
The Making Colorado Youth Ambassadors will contribute visual and written content from their hometowns and keep local residents updated on project milestones. In addition, several Youth Ambassadors will be selected to serve on the Making Colorado Brand Council, a group comprised of influential professionals at Colorado companies and organizations. Team members will also have the opportunity to take part in webinars throughout the summer to learn marketing and social media skills from some of Colorado’s top business people.
“This is an enrichment opportunity for young people across the state to participate in a first-of-its-kind branding initiative, network with community members, learn from industry-leading professionals and demonstrate what Colorado means to them,” said Colorado’s Chief Marketing Officer Aaron Kennedy.
Youth Ambassador responsibilities and expectations will include:
  • Publishing information which answers “What’s Your County’s Vibe?” on their personal social media channels.
  • Publishing pictures on the Making Colorado Youth Pinterest page, which express Colorado’s uniqueness in their community.
  • Sharing Making Colorado promotional content within their communities.
  • Creating a multi-media story that showcases what makes their community special, which will be highlighted on the Making Colorado blog.

PROGRAM DETAILS AND APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
  • This is an eight week, unpaid, home-based social media internship program.
  • Applications will be accepted May 8 through June 6.
  • Internship duration is June 17, 2013 – August 15, 2013.
  • One Youth Ambassador per Colorado county will be selected for the Making Colorado Youth Ambassador Internship Program.
  • A total of sixty-four Youth Ambassadors shall be selected.
  • Must be a Junior in High School as of May 2013 (Senior in High School for the 2013-2014 school year).
  • Must reside in county for a minimum of one year.
  • Must reside a majority of summer vacation within county.
  • Must have a Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Must not have a police record.
  • Must have knowledge and interest in posting on social media outlets such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr and other content sharing sites.
  • Must have access to a computer and camera (If selected candidate does not have access to a computer and/or camera, special arrangements will be made).
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Publish content which answers, “What’s Your County’s Vibe?” on their personal social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr.
  • Publish pictures which answer, “What’s Your County’s Vibe?” on the Making Colorado Youth Pinterest page.
  • Promote uploaded content to influencer groups.
  • Create a multi-media story that answers, “What’s Your Counties’ Vibe?” Story shall follow a theme, criteria and expectations provided by the Making Colorado team. Story will be highlighted on the Making Colorado blog.
  • Dedicate a minimum of 5 hours a week to the Youth Ambassador Internship.
Benefits
  • Youth Ambassadors will learn social media marketing techniques from Colorado’s best. Each Ambassador shall participate in at least two online skills-based trainings with Colorado Chief Marketing Officer and Noodles & Company Founder Aaron Kennedy, Atomic20 Marketing, MADE Creative Agency and Linhart PR.
  • Youth Ambassadors will gain leadership skills and preparation to become positive agents of change.
  • Youth Ambassadors will receive an acceptance letter from the Governor.
  • Each Youth Ambassadors’ “What’s Your Counties’ Vibe?” story will be placed on the MakingColorado.gov blog.
  • Each Youth Ambassador will be highlighted on the MakingColorado.gov Facebook page.
  • All Youth Ambassadors will be given a congratulatory prize at selection and at completion
  • Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to meet the Governor when he visits each youths’ county.

Program Training
  • During first week of selection, all Youth Ambassadors shall participate in a training webinar.
  • Throughout the summer, Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to attend informative online webinars with Colorado Chief Marketing Officer and Noodles & Company Founder Aaron Kennedy, Making Colorado Creative Director, Dave Schiff, EGG Strategy, Sterling-Rice Group and Linhart PR.
