MISSION: The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) inspires and empowers Denver Public School students to achieve their postsecondary goals by providing the tools, knowledge and financial resources essential for success.

TITLE OF POSITION: Development Intern (unpaid)

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Development

PURPOSE OF JOB: To assist with a variety of fundraising and special event activities for DSF including donor research, donor cultivation and event planning and promotion. This volunteer will increase the effectiveness of our fundraising operations and work to advance DSF’s work throughout the community.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
 Conduct donor research
 Assist Development staff with event strategy, planning and execution
 Support Development staff with foundation research and grant writing activities
 Work closely with Corporate Development Officer to advance corporate giving and engagement initiatives
 Organize and execute stewardship activities and thank you communications
 Maintain the development areas of the organization website
 Assist with the promotion of DSF’s annual fundraising Gala, including calendar postings, news release distribution, and social media

COMMITMENT REQUIRED: 8-12 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; website development knowledge; and social media experience required
 Excellent writing and editing skills
 Able to work independently with guidance from a supervisor
 Reliable, responsible and punctual
 Good organizational and communication skills, patience and attention to detail
 Background check may be required
 Preferred: Upper-level undergraduate student studying in fields of nonprofit management, marketing, business or journalism.

ORIENTATION AND TRAINING PROVIDED: Volunteer Orientations are held monthly and are required as an overview and first step for DSF Volunteers and Interns. Additional training regarding job duties will be provided throughout the duration of the internship.
