Diversity Scholarship Program - Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente Colorado Diversity Scholarship Program Application Now Open!

If you want to be a doctor, nurse, surgeon, physician assistant, or dentist; or are interested in a career in mental health, the Kaiser Permanente Diversity Program can help. The Kaiser Permanente Diversity Scholarship Program offers scholarships to students of under-represented groups who want to pursue a degree in health care fields. All qualified students are encouraged to apply including those who identify as African American, Asian Pacific, Latino, Native American, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, individuals with a disability, and/or U.S. veterans.  

Who's eligible?
Students who meet the following requirements are eligible: 
-Are a Colorado resident. 
-Are a graduating high school senior or GED recipient entering or currently enrolled in a post-secondary school as a full-time student (e.g., college, technical school)
-Entering or currently enrolled in a post-secondary school as a full-time student (e.g. college, technical school)
-OR-
Are an active full time graduate or doctoral level student (e.g. graduate school, medical school, nursing school and have a minimum high school or post-secondary GPA of 2.7 or a GED score of 520. 

How are the scholarships awarded? 
Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria: 
-Academic achivement
-Character qualities
-Community outreach and volunteering
-Member of diverse population underrepresented in health care

How are the scholarships awarded? 
Scholarship awards are disbursed to the educational institution, only in the fall, after the student has supplied verification of enrollment and contact information for the institutions Financial Aid Office. In addition, scholarship funds cannot be used to pay for classes that have already been taken and may not be applied to outstanding balances for previous debt incurred. 

Is this a one-time opportunity?
No. In fact, many of the scholarship recipients have been awarded scholarships multiple years.
