Xcel Energy Field Internship - Mandatory Testing April 8th

TO REGISTER PLEASE EMAIL EWALTERS@GOODWILLDENVER.ORG TO BE CONNECTED WITH AN XCEL REPRESENTATIVE.

Xcel Energy field internship starts June 13 for 6 weeks, three days each week, 8 hours per day.  Start time is around 7:30am.   The students are paid $10.15 per hour.   They will be given a stipend in a form of a gift card to purchase steel toe shoes.  We will pay for their first week on the bus to their work location.

They will need to pass the EEI CAST test to receive an interview.   Students can be 17 or 18 years old.

They will spend time in the field where they will job shadow with field employees who are digging trenches to install electric wire and gas lines.  They will not be doing any physical labor due to safety concerns.   They may take tools off the trucks, may clean up the tools and possibly use a shovel or rake a few times.  They will see how we test meters at the meter shop.  They will spend time with employees who work on the gas side of the business and with employees who work on the electric side of the business.  The employees they will spend most of their time with is where they could possibly start as a full time employee.  The Utility Services department is where we have entry level work for people interested in working for us in the field.

We will have an orientation on day one so they can see what we are all about as a utility company.  We will have the students tour a power plant, a distribution center, and our trading floor.

Here is the link for the sample EEI CAST test.     The actual test will take place on April 8.  Students must be at 1800 Larimer St at 2:30pm.  It is a three hour test and they will not be able to use calculators.  They will need to pay for parking which can be around $11 unless they take the bus downtown.
