Job Title: Denver Office of Sustainability Internship - Unpaid Closing Date/Time: Continuous Salary: $0.00 Annually Job Type: Intern Location: Denver City & County Bldg, 1437 Bannock St., Denver, Colorado Print Job Information|Apply Job Description Benefits Supplemental Questions Denver Office of Sustainability seeks unpaid full-time Interns to assist during the fall of 2013 with research projects, writing, and other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or requested. Job Responsibilities: Interns will experience a fast-paced, professional environment and will be given the opportunity to conduct research and writing assignments related to achievement of the City’s 2020 Sustainability Goals, which were approved by the Mayor on March 11, 2013 and can be viewed at www.greenprintdenver.org/2020goals/. They will learn about Mayor Hancock and his sustainability initiatives, Denver municipal government and public service. Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have completed the equivalent of at least two years of full-time course work at an accredited college or university and be seeking or already have an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Political Science, Journalism, Economics, Statistics, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or other comparable field. Required: Outstanding research skills that go beyond mere Google searches and Wikipedia look-ups. The intern should be comfortable with locating and reading original source material and interviewing people familiar with the subject of the research. We want good analytical skills, critical thinking and sensitivity to the likelihood of opposing viewpoints, facility with math and statistics, and diplomatic tenacity in the pursuit of facts. Excellent writing, proofreading, grammar and spelling, Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Ability to handle multiple projects. Dependable. Detail-oriented. Successful candidates may be required to pass a background check. Helpful (but not required): Ability to translate research results into projectable presentations using PowerPoint or a comparable presentation program, and/or other web-accessible presentation formats. Additional Information: Schedule: A minimum ten-week commitment of at least fifteen hours per week that can start on or after August 19, 2013 and no later than September 30, 2013. Compensation: Unpaid. Upon request, we will work with your college/university to accommodate the requirements of your school's internship program. Background Check/Drug Testing: Candidates must pass a criminal background check up to 10 year employment verification and education verification. Additional checks such as physical and drug testing may be required.
