Media Internship: Community Shares of Colorado


Community Shares of Colorado (CSC) was formed in 1986 by eight local nonprofit organizations to provide new financial resources for grassroots initiatives seldom supported by mainstream funding sources. CSC supports more than 100 Colorado nonprofit organizations engaged in cooperative, collaborative, community change. Since 1986, Community Shares has raised $22 million for local nonprofit organizations with an average gift of less than $1 a day.
Community Shares is seeking a Media Intern to increase our capacity to serve our 100+ nonprofit members and inspire philanthropy throughout our community. The Member Relations Intern will primarily work with the CEO on select projects to bolster aspects of our Nonprofit Sustainability Program.
This three-month internship will provide the opportunity to work in a fun and professional office environment, interact with a wide range of nonprofit leaders, learn about and execute web communications and social media strategy, and gain project management experience.
Core Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and contribute to membership communication including bi-weekly e-newsletter, website content, calendars, surveys, and other relevant information.
• Manage Community Shares’ social media presence.
Requirements:
• Enthusiastic support of Colorado’s nonprofit sector.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Gifted communicator adept at initiating conversations and building relationships.
• Current or recently graduated student or 2+ years work experience including project management.
• Proficiency with the Office suite. (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with online media including comfort with learning new programs and software.
• Openness to working for an organization with an active commitment to inclusiveness.
• Curiosity, positivity, and a sense of humor.
Hours and Compensation:
• Flexible schedule of 10-15 hours per week.
• Duration of internship is three months from start date; may be extended if needed.
• This is an unpaid internship.

• Community Shares will provide monthly reviews and opportunities to build professional skills.
