Development & Volunteer Coordinator Intern
Since 1989, Women’s Bean Project has been helping women break the cycle of poverty and unemployment. The Bean is a social enterprise (501c3 nonprofit organization) that teaches job readiness and life skills for entry-level jobs through employment in our gourmet food production and handmade jewelry manufacturing businesses. Women come to the Bean with the goal of transforming their lives and moving toward self-sufficiency.
Internship Program Overview
Women’s Bean Project is looking for a development intern at its Denver (Curtis Park) location. The intern will receive hands on experience in non-profit campaigns, stewardship, volunteer coordination and special events planning. This internship is designed to provide the individual with insight into the role of a development department, and will provide opportunities to help the intern develop skills and assist the organization during our end of year campaign and other holiday efforts.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable multi-tasking with the ability to work autonomously . S/he will be able to complete projects within deadline with minimal direction, and will be encouraged to contribute ideas that lead to revenue growth or process improvement/efficiencies of the department. The intern will report directly to the Development Director and will work collaboratively with WBP’s development and marketing staff to successfully accomplish fiscal year goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities
  • Administrative tasks include (but are not limited to) gift processing, list generation, database maintenance, donor recognition, creating and processing donor thank you letters
  • Assist/oversee the creation of end of year fundraising campaigns, materials and projects
  • Coordinate volunteer program – identifying the need for volunteer assistance and acting as the primary communicator and scheduler
Desired Qualifications
· Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft CRM a plus
· Must have the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment
· Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills
· Must be able to lift 25 pounds
This is a part-time unpaid internship (20 -25 hours/week) based in Denver with a flexible schedule (within business hours of 8-5, Monday through Friday). If school credit is desired, we are more than happy to work together to ensure those requirements are satisfied.
Start date is ASAP and a commitment through January is required.
