YouthBuild-Mile High Youth Corps’ open positions

YouthBuild, is a paid service program in which youth ages 17-24 earn their GED, are paid biweekly and can earn an AmeriCorps Education Award, as well as receiving access to a wide variety of support services, career readiness training, and hands-on experience in healthcare or construction.

Do you have any youth that are interested in YouthBuild?  Did they miss the previous YouthBuild info sessions?  Do not worry.  They are still able to sign-up.  Join us for Welcome Week on August 15, 2016 at 8 a.m. at Mile High Youth Corps and RiseUp Community School, 1801 Federal Blvd Denver, CO 80204.  Enrolling in RiseUp Community School is the first step to join YouthBuild.  During the week students will: 
  • Learn about RiseUp's culture, values, structure and how we are different from other high schools
  • Complete enrollment
  • Learn about YouthBuild and our culture of service
  • Review your credits and complete your class schedule
Our goal is to welcome students to RiseUp and establish a strong foundation for our values and culture.

What does MHYC look for in YouthBuild candidates?
Candidates must be between the ages of 17-24 and can NOT have a GED or high school diploma. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualities:

Youth Build Denver - Construction Training program

Are you between 17 -24 years old? - Do you need to get your GED or High School diploma? - Are you interested in a job in construction? -  Are you ready to Change your Life?
YouthBuild Denver is a  6-12 month training program that allows students to work towards their High School Diploma or GED part-time while receiving hands-on training based on residential construction part-time.  YouthBuild provides extensive career exploration for those looking to get experience in the workforce while preparing you for a variety of jobs.  Its not just for construction jobs.  You will have the opportunity to work on construction projects and participate in numerous types of build projects so you can figure out if construction is the right career for you.   Graduates get assistance with the next steps of their futures, whether it is employment, additional training programs or college.
 What does the program cover?Colorado Construction Institute (95)
  • Half time is GED or HS academics
  • Half time is Construction Training
  • Hands-on Building Training
  • Measurement & Math Skills
  • Power & Hand Tool Skills
  • Pre-Apprenticeship Certification
  • Job readiness training
  • Job placement assistance

 What do students gain from the program?

  • Monthly stipend up to $250Colorado Construction Institute (39)
  • GED or HS Diploma
  • OSHA Certification
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Field work available
  • College credits available

You must be between the ages of 16-24 and be disengaged from the traditional educational pathway to be eligible to apply.
