The Emergency Family Assistance Association seeks a gifted and motivated researcher and communicator to assist with short-term and long-term research and writing projects in the Boulder Office. Proven writing skills and relevant previous work experience a plus.
The candidate must be discreet, engaging, reliable, exceptionally organized and have a deep knowledge of, and interest in, Community engagement, poverty, education and advocacy.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare research briefings on range of topics, write summaries of research findings, and condense research materials into digestible form.
- Monitor national and local news sources for relevant and interesting stories.
- Develop concepts and topics for bimonthly column.
- Regular editing and fact-checking.
- Write preliminary drafts or speeches, articles and other research-related projects.
- Conduct research: Regular background research for meeting preparation, speeches and articles, some historic research for special projects, write summaries of research findings, condense research materials into digestible written form.
- Other projects as required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated research and writing skills.
- 1-2 years of research or editorial experience.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Superior Internet, database and archival research skills.
- Knowledge of and interest in wide range of poverty issues and trends
- Journalist background or experience also preferred.
- Willingness to work on emergency basis late evenings or weekends if needed.
- High degree of personal motivation, self-management and detail-orientation.
