Supervisor - Goodwill Industries of Denver, GoodBikes - Denver

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB

The GoodBikes Enclave Supervisor is responsible for the planning, implementation and daily operations of the Bike Program and its participants. This position has the overall responsibility for the safety, repair and maintenance of the bike program property and related equipment. The Supervisor directly supervises 5-8 consumer participants and is responsible for case load reporting. The GoodBikes Enclave Supervisor serves as a champion and model of GID values – “FACE IT” which incorporates fun, accountability, collaboration, empowerment, innovation, and transparency in all that we do. This position performs the following duties: 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the bike equipment, tools, and safe and high-quality delivery of the bike program.
  • Provides proper maintenance of the bikes and related equipment to ensure safe usage.
  • Installs, repairs, and replaces bike equipment or accessories, including but not limited to, handlebars, stands, lights, and seats.
  • Disassembles axles and gear mechanisms to repair, adjust, and replace defective parts using primarily hand tools.
  • Repairs holes in tires and their tubes using scrapers and patches.
  • Adjusts cables or replaces worn or damaged parts to repair handbrakes.
  • Displays knowledge and experience using proper tools for each job.
  • Follows documented protocol in delivering the bike program, including but not limited to, Safety parameters associated with use of tools and solvents.
  • Provides daily and weekly diagnostics and repair of all equipment.
  • Delivers program curriculum, individual service and support plans for consumers, and reports the progress of assigned caseload to direct supervisor.
  • Gathers and summarizes data pertinent to consumers’ plans. Determines and reports enclave consumers’ daily attendance and production using accurate counts.
  • Develops consumer job skills required to obtain and retain community employment according to the consumer’s individual goals.  
  • Trains consumers on cultivating effective quality working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Transports consumers to and from job site as applicable using Goodwill vehicle. Completes daily transportation log.
  • Completes assignments, projects, reports, and paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Assists consumers who have sustained an injury or who have personal hygiene issues as necessary utilizing techniques learned via training.
  • Monitors consumers during their meal periods.
  • Provides coverage as needed when other staff is absent.
  • Safeguards all Goodwill property including donated goods. Reports any suspicious behavior, incidents of theft or unauthorized possession/removal of Goodwill property.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required; three (3) months of experience in human services and/or equivalent experience serving the disabled population; and experience working with people whom face multiple physical, intellectual, developmental, situational and/or emotional barriers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as projections and statistical inference associated with Loss Prevention performance and service delivery. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, identify root causes, draw valid conclusions without bias, develop and implement approved solutions.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of MS Word word processing software; MS Excel spreadsheet software; and MS Outlook contact management systems. Proficiency in Internet and general database concepts is preferred.
               
CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
Employee must have a clear Colorado driver’s license in order to drive on Goodwill business. Employee must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. Employee must successfully complete required skills training within 90 days of hire and before spending independent time alone with assigned case load.

Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, criminal background check, and E-verify. Must have a clear Colorado driver’s license and be able to drive on Goodwill business.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will supervise 5-8 enclave participants.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties and responsibilities are usually conducted in Warehouse conditions at Corporate. However, position will travel to Goodwill locations that may vary in environmental conditions. Employee may travel approximately 10% of the time.
