College Access Intern - The Denver Scholarship Foundation
MISSION: The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) inspires and empowers Denver Public School (DPS) students to enroll in and graduate from post secondary institutions of higher education by providing the tools, knowledge and financial resources essential for success.
VISION: DSF will be a leader in providing all Denver youth the opportunity to attend and graduate college. DSF will be a catalyst to bring together DPS schools, Colorado post secondary institutions, and other college access providers to create the best conditions for Denver students to succeed. DSF will engage the entire Denver region to assure that every Denver student has the resources to realize their full potential.
TITLE OF POSITION: College Access Services Intern (unpaid, though arrangements can be made to receive credit for a graduate or undergraduate student)
SUPERVISED BY: Director of College Access Services
PURPOSE OF JOB: To assist the DSF College Access Services team in its programming and services, along with partnerships with DPS, college access programs and colleges, to ensure that DPS seniors will have the academic, financial and social support to enroll in college.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Attend a DSF Volunteer Orientation
Assist with creating communications for our College Access Team of 15 College Advisors
Update the scholarship directory database
Reach out to graduated seniors as part of the Summer Outreach plan with the Advising team
Data entry
Assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned by College Access Services Team
Assist with development of College Access collateral and program documents
Other duties as assigned
COMMITMENT REQUIRED: Minimum 8 hours per week. Opportunities available Monday - Friday; 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., year-round (summer and academic-year internships available).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; advanced computer skills , website development knowledge, and social media knowledge a plus
Undergraduate or graduate-level work in education, social work, counseling or a related field
Confident in writing and editing documents and collateral materials
Able to work independently with guidance from a supervisor
Reliable, responsible and punctual
Good organizational and communication skills, patience and attention to detail
Background check required
ORIENTATION AND TRAINING: Volunteer Orientations are held monthly and are required as an overview and first step for DSF Volunteers and Interns. Task-specific training will be provided.
