Denver Urban Gardens (DUG)
www.dug.org
This educational opportunity provides training in management of a metro wide food access
program. For the past twenty years, DUG’s Seeds & Transplants Program has ensured that inneed
individuals, families, seniors and groups have access to the necessary seeds, plants and
education to grow a successful, productive vegetable garden thereby improving local food
security for program participants. In 2017, this program is undergoing a number of updates and
improvements, including moving to an online application and providing educational workshops
along with the seeds and plants. Because this is a transition year, this internship will be a unique
learning opportunity in regards to program development and implementation. Areas of work
include volunteer management, educational event coordination, program administration, working
with the public, spreadsheet and database work, and discussion of gardening concepts.
