Who's In Control: A Look at Parenting Authority
This workshop is designed for parents of younger children (toddlers and elementary school age).
Parents worry if the choices they make as parents are going to produce happy and healthy children, unfortunately kids don’t come with a manual. Parenting styles have an enormous impact on how children view authority, including parents, teachers, and law enforcement. Additionally, parenting style influences the way children make decisions regarding schooling, friends, romantic partners, and the way they handle peer pressure. This workshop is designed for parents and guardians to explore the different styles and effect on the children’s view of the world.
The workshop will include:
·
Review parenting styles, authoritative, neglectful,
permissive, and authoritarian
·
Discuss how parenting styles impact thoughts and behavior
·
Provide tips on how to shift parenting styles throughout the
years
·
Offer ways to encourage children to make good choices
regarding authority figures in their lives
