Internships - Greenway River Foundation

Position Description:
 The Greenway Youth Environmental Educator Internship is designed for high school students who are at least 15 years old. The program will introduce workers to careers in environmental education and natural resources, while developing environmental knowledge and skills. The position runs in both the fall and spring semester.

Youth Educators will:
1) Have training in environmental education theory, techniques, and best practices, culminating in teaching small groups of kindergarten through 5th grade students on educational excursions along the South Platte River.
2) Gain experience that can be applied to a portfolio for certification as an environmental educator through the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE).
3) Be a part of the ongoing reclamation and stewardship efforts along Denver’s urban waterways.

Requirements:
Applicant must be:

1) at least 15 years of age
2) a hard worker
3) on time, professional, and courteous at all times
4) able to work well with others

5) able to speak and teach in front of small groups of adults and/or children

6) enjoy spending time outdoors

7) willing to get dirty

Physical Job Requirements: Some activities cover more than two miles of walking, and many tasks involve getting into the river

Other Job Requirements: 
Must maintain good standing in all classes and make up classroom work that is missed during internship hours

Work Schedule: 
Fall or Spring Semester. Hours may fall during any of the following: Monday –Friday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Work Commitment: 
Two training days (one may be on a weekend) and 5-6 excursions during one semester
