Barista Position Abstract

Aviano Coffee CCN baristas are expected to master the trade and adhere to the highest standards of quality drink preparation and coffee/tea knowledge. Baristas are the first line of contact for the customer, and therefore must demonstrate exceptional skills in the craft while simultaneously generating an excellent coffee/tea/house experience through both hospitality and quality.

Job Expectations

General

• Barista applicants must have a minimum of 1-year experience as a barista. Must demonstrate proper knowledge in extraction technique and milk texture. Must be able to demonstrate minimum skills in latte art, including hearts, tulips and rosettas. 

• Successful applicants not meeting minimum requirements for barista position will be considered for the Apprentice Position.

• Observe and abide by company Code of Ethics, Employment Agreement, and Policies and Procedures. Adhere to safe food handling procedures and requirements as outlined by Aviano Coffee, state and local Health. Maintain a safe, clean and organized workspace for customers and fellow employees.

Drink Quality/Education and Preparation

• Using specific recipe and presentation practices, dial-in, prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages that adhere to specific quality standards and proper etiquette established by Aviano Coffee CCN - experienced baristas must learn and adhere to methodology established by Aviano Coffee CCN regardless of skill level

• Maintain complete and accurate knowledge on all current offerings in both coffee and tea, and properly convey information to customers as needed

• Participate in coffee and tea tasting to further develop your knowledge and mastery over products

• Attend and participate in training sessions as scheduled

• Demonstrate passion in the field

Business Initiatives

• Participate in store-wide profit-making and expense-mitigation initiatives
Educational and/or Experience - Barista

High School Diploma or GED, and experience in specialty coffee, restaurant, retail, hospitality and/or customer service industries

Baristas must be a least 18 years of age

All applicants must have a reliable form of transportation

Qualifications:

In addition to being a coffee and tea drinker, the following requirements represent the knowledge, proficiency, and/or ability that is required to perform the job successfully. • Must be able to maintain a pleasant disposition and act with a sense of urgency while serving customers

• Must demonstrate a passion for coffee and tea

• Must be flexible with work schedule, and must be able to work weekends (Sundays included)

• Must have the ability to multitask in a highly demanding environment while maintaining a calm demeanor, especially during high-volume hours

• Must be a team player

• Must have the ability to take constructive criticism, as well as give feedback on both quality of product and service

• Must be punctual and reliable

• Must be willing to maintain a clean and healthy work environment, including cleaning of restrooms and dishes

• Some heavy lifting (up to 50-lbs) may be required

Successful applicants must be U.S. citizens, or have a valid work visa. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, employment status will be probationary for a minimum 3 month period. 

Health benefits available to all full-time employees after 6-months of uninterrupted full-time employment. 

Paid vacation available to all full-time employees after 1-year of uninterrupted full-time employment.

Pay to commensurate with experience.
