Description
Xcel Energy’s corporate contributions department is looking for an intern in its Denver office to support the grant making process, workplace giving campiagn and event coordination. Thi sposition is available for an immediate start, working a minimum of three days a week (and up to five) for 12 months, based on performance and business need.
Grant making
- Primary responsibilities include assisting the grants managers with distribution of grant communication, helping with check distribution events and capturing and tracking media placements.
- The intern will have the opportunity to observe how a corporate grant making process works by observing the grant review process at the grant committee level and by accompanying grant managers on site visits.
Workplace giving campaign
- Primary responsibilities include assisting workplace giving campaign staff with pledge entry and follow up, including donor support and customer relations, supporting campaign volunteers, and helping with event logistics.
- The intern will have the opportunity for direct exposure to a workplace giving campaign that is conducted across eight states and involved more than 10,000 employees and retirees. This is a large fundraising effort with targeted communications and tactics designed to engage employees and meet a fundraising goal.
Event assistance
- Primary responsibilities include attending a variety of events and helping with check-in, taking RSVPs, set-up and clean-up.

Qualifications
Requirements
- Must be a current student at the Junior, Senior or Graduate student level.
- Majoring in communications, non-profit management, marketing or related discipline
- Current GPA of 3.0 or better

Prior direct fundraising experience - either as a volunteer or intern.

Customer service experience which includes problem-solving directly with customers.

Data entry experience.

Basic understanding of grant making and grant application review process - through hands-on work or class studies.

Experience in a professional work environment - as a volunteer, intern, or employee (or a combination).

Familiarity with corporate community investment efforts.
