Casa de Paz - Community Outreach Internship

Casa de Paz - Community Outreach Internship
Job Description
October 2013 - December 2013

Thank you for your interest in working for Casa de Paz!  Casa de Paz is a place of refuge and comfort for the loved ones of people detained in the ICE Processing Center in Aurora.  We host families and individuals who have often driven several hours to say visit to a loved one being deported or detained.  Our hope is that in the midst of their grief, they can have some comfort and find a place offering them love, support, and hope.

Additionally, we work hard to educate the public about issues surrounding immigration and the reform that we see as necessary for our country and community.  We hope to inspire people to take action against the injustices that exist for people living and working in this country without legal status.

If selected for this internship, you will be part of an exciting movement to change the way our community and government views and handles this issue, while impacting the lives of thousands of families who are in constant fear of being torn apart.  You will gain valuable skills that will help you in your future career and have a chance to meet inspiring community leaders.

We wish you the best of luck in this application process and hope to see you soon!

The roles and responsibilities of the Community Outreach Intern at Casa de Paz include:

1.      Working with the Executive Director 1-2 times per week for a total of 3 months
2.      Occasionally working during a weekend event (this is rare)
3.      Organizing events and handling the marketing and logistics (we will help you gain the skills needed to do this)
4.       Scheduling guests staying at “The Casa”
5.      Hosting guests at “The Casa”
6.      Visiting local businesses and churches to let them know about our work
7.      Managing our Facebook page

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Preston Brasch at pbrasch@goodwilldenver.org or 303-870-7304.
