The Department of Environmental Health seeks 2 motivated Professional Occupational Interns to join the Division of Public Health Inspections in the Food Safety section.
The mission of the division of Public Health Inspections is to protect the health of Denver by ensuring that food service establishmentschild care facilities, residential healthbody art establishments, boarding homes, and pools are in compliance with the respective laws while providing public education to consumers and technical assistance to businesses. As part of theDepartment of Environmental Health, we are committed to resolving situations posing the greatest risk to the public health. We seek to render a high level of customer responsiveness and engage in industry partnerships and training efforts through regular inspections and assessments.  Job Responsibilities:
Train and assist in environmental assessments, complaint investigations, education and technical assistance of regulated facilities within the commercial food service industry.    
 
The internship requires 40 hours per week. 
 Qualifications:
Completion of six (6) credit hours of college and current enrollment in a college program leading to a Baccalaureate or higher Degree in professional field specific to the departmental and/or work assignment. Enrollment must be in a learning institute that is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission.
Continued enrollment in a college program is a condition of employment with the City.

Preferred Qualifications  
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentially;
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy;
  • Attention to detail, and adherence to division policies and procedures;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: $13.37 hour

Background Check/Drug Testing: Candidates must pass a criminal background check up to 10 year employment verification and education verification. Additional checks such as physical and drug testing may be required.
