Denver International Airport (DIA) is seeking Airport Operations Terminal/Customer Service Internsfor paid positions to learn from the inside-out what it takes to deliver effective customer service, safety and security at a major international airport.

The Airport Operations Terminal/Customer Service Interns will work with the Aviation Customer Service Supervisors and provide support to the customer service and terminal operations team to deliver aviation customer service at concourses, terminal information booths, the airport call center and other public areas of the airport such as VIP escorting and international/customs areas; the team provides information and resolutions to airport passengers and the public at Denver International Airport on a wide variety of issues. 
 
The selected individuals will join an Aviation Customer Service Agents team working and rotating assigned sites i.e., the Call Center answering phone calls, a myriad of questions/issues in-person at the information booths and the federal customs area. This opportunity will also allow individuals to learn a broad and detailed understanding about aviation operations rarely available.

You must be currently enrolled in a college or university, have at least 6 credit hours completed and willing to work either day or swing shifts and weekends as our operations run seven days a week from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm. We are requiring a minimum commitment of 4 hours per shift and you must be available 20 hours per week (your schedule may need to change by semester, but we will still require the same commitment).
 
Ideallywe’re looking for first or second year students interested in: a 1 year or more commitment; enrolled in Aviation, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, Political Science International Studies, or related programs; demonstrating a genuine interest for delivering customer service in an international, diverse environment.  Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides customer service, safety and security to all Denver International Airport passengers, visitors and general public.
  • Interprets, implements, and coordinates the requested needs of airport travelers for conventions, conferences, meetings, political delegations, VIP’s and special needs organizations for expedited movement through DIA. 
  • Answers and responds to incoming/outgoing phone calls in the Aviation Customer Service Call Center.
  • Work with the Federal Inspections Service area under the direction of the Immigration Customs Enforcement Agents (ICE) by monitoring, responding to and assisting arriving international passengers.

  • Current enrollment in college or university with at least 6 hours of college coursework completed at time of application
  • Ability to work day or swing shift (Hours of Operation 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.)
  • Ability to work on weekends
  • Ability to work in 4 hour minimum shifts
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week
  • Interest in a multi-semester Internship

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to required):

  • Bilingual - Specific languages of interest are Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
  • Enrolled in Aviation, Tourism and Hospitality, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, Political Science, or directly related program.
  • 1 year commitment or more 
  • Valid Driver's License

Please note the following:
FBI Criminal Background Check required:  an FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DIA). Employees are also required to report any felony conviction and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance / be eligible for continued employment. A pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Shift Work: Interns will work day or swing shifts as DIA is a 24/7/365 operation which includes nights, weekends and holidays.
